Register

May I register on the day of the event?
Yes, you may register on-site.  However, we take only payments in cash or by check. You can register up until 30 minutes before your departure time.

 

What methods of payment are accepted at the Demi-marathon de Granby?
If you register online, you can pay with a credit card. For on-site registration, we accept only cash and checks.

 

Are we allowed to transfer our entry bib to someone else; are there fees?
Yes, we accept free transfers. They have to be completed up until 30 minutes before your race departure time. To complete a transfer, we need the full name, city of residence and birthdate of the new owner, as well as his or her written consent (email or letter).

 

Can I change my distance?
Yes, you can change your distance. If you lower it (eg: from 10K to 5K), no additional fees will be charged and no refund will be issued. In the case where you would like to raise the distance (eg: from 5K to 10K), the difference must be paid. The amount will go accordingly with the date of the change and the new distance. You have up until 30 minutes before your departure time to make the change.

 

Can I get a refund?
The registration fee is not refundable. However, entry transfers are allowed. They have to be completed up until 30 minutes before your race departure time.

 

May I register for the 1 K race even though I will not run with a child?
Yes, people from all ages can register for the 1K race.  You will also receive a participation medal as well as a meal. ** Please note that only children under 11 years old are eligible to the podium ceremony in the overall category.

Adults who wish to run along with their children may run for free, although they will receive no participation medal nor meal.

Procedure: At the start line, adults must stand behind the group. After the start, parents who wish to run with their children can catch up and finish the race with them.

 

Are there discounts for groups and companies?

Race kit pick-up

 

When and where can I pick up my race kit?
You can pick-up your race kit on the Saturday prior to the event as well as on the day of the event.

Which document do I have to bring to get my race kit?
Although we accept ID cards, we prefer your proof of registration.

 

Whom do I contact if I can’t find my proof of registration?
To have your proof of registration re-sent to you, write to the following email address: support@inscriptionenligne.ca.

 

May I pick up someone else’s race kit?
Yes, you may pick up the race kit of a colleague, friend or family member. You only have to show his or her proof of registration.

Where is the main site, start line and finish line ?

All activities are taking place at the Daniel-Johnson Park, located at 230 Drummond Street, Granby, QC

What happens if it’s raining or snowing?
The event is held whether the weather is good or inclement, except in the case where the safety or health of runners is compromised.

 

How much time before my race departure time do I have to show up?
If you didn’t pick up your race kit on the Saturday, you should be there one hour prior to the start of your race. If you already have your race kit, we recommend that you arrive at least 30 minutes before your departure time.

 

Is there a place where I can leave my personal belongings?
We have a cloakroom where your personal belongings will be identified according to your bib number and kept safely inside the Pavillon Roger-Bédard. Even though the cloakroom is attended at all times, we suggest not leaving valuable belongings. We do not take responsibility in case of loss or theft.

 

Will there be a child care service on-site?
There is no child care service on-site.

 

Is it possible to buy a t-shirt the day of the event?
Yes, it costs $ 10 plus tax at the Registration Area. Only cash and checks are accepted.

 

Can we buy an extra meal?
Yes, it costs $10 plus tax. Go to the Registration Area to pay the fee; we will then mark your bib to inform the person in charge at the Food tent. Only cash and checks are accepted.

 

Are dogs allowed on-site or on the course?
No, dogs are not allowed on-site (Daniel-Johnson Park) nor on the racing course, with the exception of guide dogs.

 


On the courses

 

Are we required to run at a minimum speed?

For distances of 10K and less, there is no minimum speed. For the 21.1K, participants are asked to walk at a speed of at least 11 minutes per kilometer or run at 9 minutes per kilometer.

 

Are we allowed to run with a stroller in your event?
Yes, strollers are accepted. However, at the start line, you must run behind the group, for safety purposes.

 

Are walkers welcome to your race?
Yes, walkers are welcome to our races. Our events also include a walking portion, both for those doing brisk walking and those who only want to walk. Therefore, we hold a distinct medal ceremony.  Walkers are required not to run intervals, meaning they could not alternate between running and walking. If you wish to do some intervals, you must register as a runner.

 

Are people with disabilities or impaired mobility welcome to your race?
Yes, they are. If a person requires assistance, the assistant will be allowed to run for free. The assistant will be wearing a participant number but will receive no time-keeping bib or participating medal. However, lunch will be provided. We ask people using a wheelchair to start at the end of the running pack.

 

Are there pace bunnies (pacers) on your circuit?
There will be pace bunnies for the marathon and half-marathon distances. If you wish to become a pacer, please send an email at info@dmg.ca.

 

Where can I find the race’s courses?
Courses for the event are available on the «Race info» tab.

 

Are the courses going to be properly marked?

Yes! There will be a team of volunteers and policemen on the course, guiding the participants. There will also be easy-to-understand signs all along the course. You will need to follow the arrows according to your distance.

 

Are we allowed to wear headphones?
You may run with headphones, but, for safety purposes, it is not recommended. In any case, it will be important to follow volunteers’ guiding instructions on the course.

 

Are dogs allowed on the courses?
Dogs are not allowed on the main site nor on the courses, with the exception of guide dogs.


 

 

Medals and results

Where could I find my race time?
The results are printed on-site during the event. They are also available in real time on Sportstats website: www.sportstats.ca

 

Are there age group medals?

For each distance of the race discipline, gold, silver and bronze medals will be offered to the top three fastest men and women of each age group. Medals are going to be given at the « Remise » tent.

For each distance of the walking discipline, gold, silver and bronze medals will be offered to the top three fastest men and women of each age group, although a minimum of 100 participants is required.  Medals are going to be given at the « Remise » tent.

Minimum age for participation

For security purposes and following the recommendation of the Fédération Québécoise d’Athlétisme, we do not recommend children under 11 years old to participate to the 5K and 10K races in a competition context. In situations where a someone under 11 would participate to one of these distances, it is the parents’ responsibility to ensure their child has a the required fitness level and adequate training to finish the race, therefore to reducing the risk of injuries or fainting. For this reason, all participants aged 19 and less will be considered as part of one same category for the medal presentation.

For the 21.1 K-course, also following the Fédération québécoise d’athlétisme recommendation, we strictly forbid the participation of children under 14 years old. Because youth’s security is a critical issue for our organisation, we will strictly implement this rule. Therefore, participants under 14 will automatically be disqualified. For this reason, all participants aged 19 and less will be considered as part of one same category for the medal presentation.

What can I do if there is a mistake in my running time?
The official timekeeping company is Sportstats. Send them an email at: corrections@sporstats.ca with the following information: your full name, distance, name of the race and your approximate time. Please note that Sportstats adjusts the results a few days after the event.

 

Where could I find pictures of the event?
Pictures are free on our Facebook page Demi-marathon de Granby and available a few days after the event. Personalized pictures will also be sent to you by e-mail, along with the procedure to purchase them if you wish.
